Steel making accounts for approximately 8% of global C02 emmisions, which includes the iron making component. Traditional approaches to iron making emmit approximately 2.1 tonnes of C02 per tonne of hot metal produced. We have an approach to make standard pig iron to specifcation with 75% less C02 emissions. This type of iron is called green “standard” pig iron.
It’s important to know that not all iron meets the specification of standard pig iron and not all standard pig iron meets the specification of green standard pig iron.

We have an entirely new approach to making green standard pig iron called a Carbon Refinery™ . A Carbon Refinery™ is an innovative integration of existing processes to make green standard pig iron at market-disrupting prices. The Carbon Refinery™ is a proprietary closed-loop, system of systems that convert CO2 emissions into carbon neutral, and environmentally friendly co-products.

The Current Market
Green Standard Pig Iron is in high demand as the steel industry strives toward decarbonization. Existing processes are either bad for the environment, aren’t cost-effective, or produce a green product that doesn’t meet the specification for standard pig iron. Supply chain issues have added to the shortage of standard pig iron resulting in a market that is in need of green standard pig iron in North America.
ECO-INNOVATION
A Greener Approach to Making Standard Pig Iron.
Our approach is to integrate existing technologies to create a proprietary closed-loop system of systems that would produce iron that is both green (less than 400 kg of C02 emission per tonne of hot metal) and that meets the specification for standard pig iron. This unique approach employs Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), transforming harmful waste into profits.
PROJECT PLAN
The Carbon Refinery™
Poised to break ground on our first Carbon Refinery™ in Colombia S.A., we plan to produce 1 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of green standard pig iron. For scope, the US Imports 7-8 MTPA from Brazil and the Black Sea Region. We are in discussion with prospective off-takers for the green standard pig iron and most of the co-products that would be produced through CCUS.

How it works
The Carbon Refinery™ is able to produce green standard pig iron while converting damaging C02 emissions into carbon neutral co-products.
Pyrolysis
Subbituminous coal is heated in a closed vessel that is depleted of oxygen where volatile matter and moisture are gasified leaving a high-quality coal char similar to breeze coke.
Carbon Refinery
Gasses from pyrolysis and from the iron ore smelt reaction vessel are optimized to carbon monoxide. Blue hydrogen is used with existing processes to make Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Blue Methanol, Carbon-Neutral Urea, and other carbon-neutral co-products.
Electrolysis
The project plans to issue green or sustainability bonds into the Sustainable Debt Market. The sustainability category of the Sustainable Debt Market had grown to 682 Billion U.S. dollars (cumulative) at the end of 2022.
